Julie Ann Fooshee

 

Julie Ann Fooshee (Research Assistant in Ethnography of New Festival Experiences) is completing a PhD in STS at the University of Edinburgh. Julie Ann has worked at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in the Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science division as a Science Engagement Specialist working to bring NASA’s unique assets to the public through creating programming and outreach. She spent six years as the coordinator of the Science Festival Alliance at MIT, helming the national network of science festivals in the United States and working with the UK Science Festivals Network on various collaborative programs. She has also worked on grant-funded initiatives for the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Noyce Foundation, National Science Foundation, Wellcome Trust, and The Simon’s Foundation.

Julie Ann has an MSc in Science Communication and Public Engagement, as well as a MScR in Science Technology and Society. She sits on the organising committee for International Observe the Moon Night hubbed out of NASA Goddard, and on the SciEngage Planning Committee, a collective of practitioners working together to better the field of science engagement. Originally from Florida, she adores the blustery Scottish weather and can be found in her time off riding horses with the University of Edinburgh Equestrian Club.
