Patricia WuWu

Patricia Wu Wu is a fashion designer and researcher, currently writing up her doctoral thesis at the School of Design, Edinburgh College of Art.

Working in an interdisciplinary approach, she designs conceptual and speculative objects from and with data, using fiction, computational simulation, remote-sensing technologies, and digital fabrication strategies. Her work is in the form of wearables, hybrid installations and moving image, serving as a ‘site for thought’ to reimagine the fashion body in the context of the Anthropocene.

Her work has been exhibited at Milan Design Week, Berlin Fashion Film Festival, Musseu Disseny Hub, Talbot Rice Gallery; as well as published in ‘Art, Materiality & Representation’ 2017, ‘Art in the Anthropocene’ 2019 and ‘Temes de Disseny’ 2019 Elisava journal. She has worked on a series of funded research projects with researchers, architects, artists and scientists across Design Informatics, Edinburgh Futures Institute, ASCUS Lab and the National Library of Scotland.

Recently, she has been awarded the EFI student award for a collaborative project titled ‘Data-Driven COVID Couture’, which explores themes of mourning, memorialisation and materialisation through a poetic lens of working with COVID data-sets to generate computationally-designed face masks.
